Volleyball summer camps for kids ages 7-18 at Richmond Volleyball Club

Looking for a way to bump the summer boredom and keep your kids active this summer? Register your child for one of our summer camps! These four day volleyball summer camps are the perfect blend of fun and fitness teaching kids the fundamentals of the game and building up their skills to help them progress and grow as a player. With half day and full day options available for kids ages 7-18 there is a camp for the beginner just learning the game, to the more advanced volleyball player looking to hone and improve a particular skill.

Registration: you do not need to login to register for summer camps, simply click on the registration link found under each specific camp.  If your son/daughter participated in our Winter or Spring Jumpin’ Juniors Program, City League, or on a Travel team during the 2017-2018 session, they are current members. RVC members receive discounts on summer camps, private lessons, and open gyms. Fundamentals Volleyball Summer Camps at Richmond Volleyball Club for kids ages 7-12
  • FUN-damentals Summer Camp is an introduction to volleyball for younger players focusing on fun and being active! No experience necessary. At the end of camp, players will feel confident in their abilities and have a basic understanding of the fundamental skills of volleyball.

    Full day camps will consist of volleyball in the morning and other sports and activities in the afternoon.

    • Ages: Boys and girls ages 7-12
    • Dates: All summer camps are 4-day camps running Monday-Thursday
      • RVC Byrdhill Start Dates: June 24, July 15, July 29
      • RVC Stonebridge Start Dates: June 17, July 8, July 22, August 5 
    • Hours: Gyms will open at 8:30am. Full day camps will consist of volleyball in the morning and other sports and activities in the afternoon.
      • Half Day Camp: 9am-12pm 
      • Full Day Camp: 9am – 4pm (there will be a 1 hour lunch break – bring a packed lunch) 
    • Cost: If your son/daughter participated in our Winter or Spring Jumpin’ Juniors Program, City League, or on a Travel team during the 2018-2019 session, they are current members.
      • Half Day Camp: $150 non-member/ $135 RVC member
      • Full Day Camp: $240 non-member/ $220 RVC member
    • What to bring? Campers should wear athletic clothing and bring a snack and a water bottle. Knee pads are recommended but not required.

All Skills Volleyball Summer Camps at Richmond Volleyball Club for kids ages 12-15
  • At All-Skills Volleyball Camp, emphasis is placed on movement and proper technique. This camp is designed for a beginning-level players and those with limited experience. By the end of camp players will know the core skills and have an understanding of the basic volleyball system.

    Full day camps will consist of volleyball in the morning and other sports and activities in the afternoon.

    • Ages: Boys and girls ages 12-15
    • Dates: All summer camps are 4-day camps running Monday-Thursday
      • RVC Byrdhill Start Dates: June 24, July 8* (BOYS ONLY), July 15, July 29
        • *July 8th week will be a boys only half day camp. This camp is especially good for boys wanting to tryout for their school’s volleyball team, but do not have much experience in volleyball. We recommend participating in a week of All-Skills Camp and then participating in the boys JV Bootcamp the week of July 29.
      • RVC Stonebridge Start Dates: June 17, July 8, July 22, August 5 
    • Hours: Gyms will open at 8:30am. Full day camps will consist of volleyball in the morning and other sports and activities in the afternoon.
      • Half Day Camp: 9am-12pm

JV Bootcamp Volleyball Summer Camps at Richmond Volleyball Club for kids trying out for their high school volleyball team
  • JV Bootcamp is designed to get players ready for high school junior varsity tryouts! Emphasis is placed on what high school coaches look for: good all-around technique, understanding of systems, communication, and hustle.

    • Ages: Players planning to tryout for their high school volleyball team
    • Dates: All summer camps are 4-day camps running Monday-Thursday
      • Girls @ RVC Byrdhill (Henrico): June 24, July 15, July 22, August 5
      • Girls @ RVC Stonebridge (N. Chesterfield): July 29
      • Boys @ RVC Byrdhill (Henrico): July 29
    • Hours: 9am – 4pm. Gyms will open at 8:30am. There will be a 1-hour lunch break (bring a packed lunch).
    • Cost:If your son/daughter participated in our Spring Jumpin’ Juniors Program, City League, or on a Travel team during the 2018-2019 session, they are current members.
      • $280 non-member/ $260 RVC member
    • What to bring? Campers should wear athletic clothing and bring a snack and a water bottle. Knee pads are recommended but not required.

Skills Week Summer Camps at Richmond Volleyball Club
  • Volleyball Skills Week is an in depth break down of the specific skills listed. Designed for athletes that have experience but want help elevating their game in one particular area. Players will have a thorough understanding of the skill selected.

    • Ages: Girls ages 13 and up
    • Dates: All summer camps are 4-day camps running Monday-Thursday
      • July 8-11, 2019
    • Hours: Gyms will open at 9:30am. A player may sign up for both the morning (serving/passing) session AND an afternoon session (either setting or hitting). There is an hour break for lunch in between. A player CAN NOT sign up for both setting and hitting as both camps run at the same time.
      • Serving/Passing: 10am-12pm 
      • Setting: 1pm-3pm
      • Hitting: 1pm-3pm
    • Cost: If your daughter participated in our Spring Jumpin’ Juniors Program, City League, or on a Travel team during the 2018-2019 session, they are current members.
      • 1 session: $150 non-member/ $135 RVC member
      • 2 sessions: $300 non-member/ $270 RVC member
    • What to bring? Campers should wear athletic clothing and bring a snack and a water bottle. Knee pads are recommended but not required.

Refund policy: Cancellations before June 7, 2019 are eligible for a full refund. Cancellations after June 7, 2019 up until 5pm the Friday before you child’s camp start date are eligible for a refund minus a $50 administrative fee. After 5pm the Friday before your child’s camp start date, no refunds for injury, illness, etc. will be given. No exceptions. Any rule violation will result in immediate dismissal without refund.

Summer Camp Frequently Asked Questions

  • If you are mailing camp registration, please make all checks out to Richmond Volleyball Club.  You may also register online using a credit card.

  • Cancellations before June 7, 2019 are eligible for a full refund. Cancellations after June 7, 2019 up until 5pm the Friday before you child’s camp start date are eligible for a refund minus a $50 administrative fee. After 5pm the Friday before your child’s camp start date, no refunds for injury, illness, etc. will be given.   • Each camper will be emailed a registration confirmation the week before camp begins.  The letter will contain general information and suggestions for getting the most out of your camp experience.

  • There will be a check-in table upon entering the facility.  Campers simply need to check-in at the table with the coaches.

  • Players should be ready to start at scheduled times.  The facility will open a half hour prior to camp starting and campers should be picked up at the end of the session.

  • Campers should come dressed in athletic wear (t-shirts, shorts, socks, and athletic shoes.) Please bring or wear comfortable volleyball or athletic shoes.  Knee pads are not required but are recommended.  Be prepared to drink plenty of liquids each day.  Drinking fountains are available, and campers should bring refillable water bottles.

  • Our sport shop is open during business hours selling t-shirts, volleyball shoes and accessories (including various styles and sizes of kneepads.) Ask any office or staff member for assistance in the sport shop.

  • Camp instructors may include college coaches and players (current and former) or high school coaches and players, all of whom are RVC-trained staff. We are very selective with staffing our camps.  All camps are developed and run under the tutelage of full-time staff members.

  • Campers who are expelled or voluntarily withdraw from camp do not receive refunds.

  • Campers may bring lunch and snacks from home or purchase drinks from our drink machine.  Eat healthy!  You will be working hard, so a healthy diet will be critical to your success. Also, the concession area at RVC Byrdhill WILL BE OPEN FOR LUNCH during summer camps. For information regarding our free lunch program, contact the RVC office.

  • Campers will remain inside the facility until they are picked up.  Camp will end at the scheduled times.  Make sure transportation has been arranged for each day of camp.

  • Campers can receive the RVC Member discounted price if they purchase a membership to RVC.  In addition to pricing discounts. membership allows access to open gym.  Open gym provides our members an opportunity to play in a”pick up” game environment, or just practice with other players. Check the Club Calendar on our website for open gym days and times.  Contact our office for additional information on becoming an RVC member. 

  • Yes, all campers will receive a camp t-shirt as a part of their registration.
