Private Instruction

In order to help players learn and improve skills, Richmond Volleyball Club is dedicated to offering quality instruction for players 12 and up.  Individual and group instruction focus on a variety of skills, including passing, setting, hitting, blocking and serving. With a wealth of coaching experience at all levels, our coaching staff is able to provide instruction in an individual or group setting on all aspects of volleyball.

Payment is due at the time of the lesson. The RVC office will accept cash, check (made payable to RVC), or credit card. Lessons are scheduled first-come, first-serve and availability will change based on coaches schedules.

Cancellation Policy

Once a Private Instruction has been arranged, 24 hours notice is required for cancellation.  Failure to do so obligates customer to all lesson and court fees.

  • Wes Bolyard

    Boys 16 Regional Head Coach at RVC 

    After graduating from Prince George High School where he played as a setter for three years, Wes joined their coaching team for the next two years as the JV Boys Head Coach and Varsity Boys Assistant Coach. He then played beach volleyball for two years at University of Virginia as a setter and opposite hitter. After graduating, Wes moved back to the Richmond area where he coached the JV Boys team last year and will be the Head Coach for the Varsity Boys Volleyball Team at Maggie Walker Governor’s School this year, and is finishing up his first year coaching at RVC as the Boys 16 Regional’s Head Coach.

  • Chris_Byham

    Chris Byham

    Junior Programs Manager at RVC

    Chris brings over 7 years experience coaching volleyball to RVC. He started his coaching career as the Mid-Coast Volleyball Club Head Coach back in 2011, and from there has served as the Boys Varsity Head Coach and Girls JV Head Coach at Paso Robles High School for 3 years, and then the 805 Elite Volleyball Club Head Coach for 2 years. Chris then spent some time working at the collegiate level as an Assistant at the University of California at Riverside and then at Cal Ply San Luis Obispo for 3 years. Currently, he works as the Juniors Technical Manager at RVC, while also working as the the USA Volleyball High Performance Associate Head Coach, and Youth Continental Team Assistant.

  • Christine Frank

     Girls 12 State Head Coach at RVC

    Christine played club volleyball at the University of Richmond, and started coaching while attending school there. She has been coaching at RVC for six years, and is currently the 12’s Girls State Head Coach.

  • Greg Knight

    Boys 16-3 Head Coach at RVC

    Greg graduated from Eastern Mennonite in 2013 where he played NCAA volleyball for 4 years. Upon graduating, he moved to Richmond to take over the LC Bird boys volleyball program between 2013-2015. Since then he has been the head coach for the Hanover Girls Varsity team (2017 & 2018 regional champions). Greg has also been coaching at RVC since 2013 as a head coach or assistant coach for our boys 16-1, 16-2, or 16-3 teams.

  • Cat Lester

    Setting specialist with juniors program at RVC

    Cat played D1 volleyball at Virginia Commonwealth University as a setter and after college, coached at The Steward School as junior and varsity head coach from 2009-2011. Currently she is at Lee Davis High School as an assistant volleyball coach and works with the RVC juniors program providing setter specific training across teams.

  • Andre Spencer

    Board Member at RVC

    Andre spent 4 years as an Assistant Coach for VCU women’s volleyball before becoming one of the original coaches for RVC juniors travel program back when it started in 1994. During his time with RVC juniors, Andre coaches various ages and levels including National level teams. He then continued his volleyball career through refereeing Women’s Division I, II, III, Men’s Division I, and USA volleyball. Currently, Andre coaches at RVC in our City League and is starting his fourth year as the Head Coach for Saint Gertrude’s Varsity Girls.

  • Amanda Walker

    Girls 18 Zonal Head Coach at RVC 

    With over 11 years of volleyball experience, both as a coach and player, Amanda started her coaching career as the Assistant Volleyball Coach at West Virginia Wesleyan College. She also served as the Head Volleyball Coach of the College’s JV program where she led the team to an overall record of 6-2. Currently, Amanda is entering her third season as Virginia State University’s Head Volleyball Coach. Last year, she led the Trojans to a history making season by clinching the title of Northern Division Champions with an overall record of 22-13 and a conference record of 13-4, and led team to the program’s first conference tournament finals appearance. During her time at VSU, Amanda has coached players to earn 2 First Team, 4 Second Team and 1 All- Rookie Team accolades. Amanda currently is the Head Coach for the Girls 18 Zonal team at RVC.

  • Skip_Weston Skip Weston

    Director of Programs and Facilities at RVC
     
    Skip coached girls volleyball at Mills E. Godwin High School from 1984-2004, compiling an amazing record of 324-25. They won 15 district titles, 11 region championships and 2 state crowns (with 7 final four appearances). Currently, he is the Head Coach for the Varsity Girls team at St. Catherine’s School.

  • Rose White

    Girls 18 National Head Coach at RVC 

    Rose played D1 volleyball at Sacramento State University as a setter and after college she began her coaching career at Florida International University as a Graduate Assistant. From FIU she moved on to Morgan State University as an assistant, and then she became the head coach at St. Mary’s College of Maryland, a small D3 school. Most recently she was the head coach at Virginia State University. In addition to her college coaching career, she has worked for Gold Medal Squared, South Florida Volleyball Club, Time Out Volleyball Club and is currently the 18 National Head Coach here at RVC.

  • Christina Zambos-Graves

     Girls 16 Metro Head Coach at RVC

    Christina started playing varsity volleyball in 4th grade and was a starting freshman at Tucker High School before moving on to be an outside hitter and team captain on the Varsity Girls team at Lee Davis High School. She started her coaching career at RVC coaching a season and moving up through Jumpin’ Juniors, Middle School, City League, and currently, Girls 16 Metro.  Christina works with both male and female athletes ages 12 and older.
